Over components! Place real parts from a supplier.

Design Libraries

Your BOM will be fully populated ready to the order parts you placed. Component centres are the correct spot for a Pick and Place machine to collect the part, meaning less programming, less rework.

Every part has a beautiful 3D model built to the manufacturers dimensions. Your board previews never looked so beautiful. Footprints are all sized to the manufacturers specifications. You can be sure the parts fit and reflow perfectly. Thanks to full parametric information and Altium's filtering, it's fast to find the appropriate component in the library. Placing real components protects you from adding a part or value combination that does not exist in the real world.

Hundreds of Universities, Government and Private organisations rely on this library for their daily work. The library's high quality, accurate parts and excellent production success rates are strongly valued by our users. This library was built to have the highest quality of data from the start.

Fully accurate 3D Models, footprints and parametric data. Never place a component value that doesn't exist again. The library is production proven, footprints are designed to the manufacturers specifications so parts fit and reflow perfectly. Components pick and place correctly thanks to correct component centroid information. Every part has complete parametric data all the technical specs as well as supplier and datasheet links available directly from within Altium. IPC claims that these land patterns are transparent to the manufacturing process but recommends that they should be optimized to suit the soldering type wave, reflow and assembly components mounted on one or both sides of the board, etc.

These designation letters are appended to Altium library and footprint names to identify the density level. IPC compliant footprints are found in Altium Designer 6. All PCB footprint dimensions are given in metric units. Departures to this policy are made for some silkscreen dimensions and critical dimensions such as pitch and row spacing.

A unique name is assigned to each footprint. As a general rule pins are assigned the same name as provided in the manufacturers datasheet. For some smaller components it is prudent to use an abbreviation if the pin name is lengthy, in order to provide a clean-looking symbol, eg. AUX for Auxiliary.

However different manufacturers regularly use different abbreviations for the same name or use the same abbreviation for different names. On occasions, these inconsistencies appear within the datasheets of the same manufacturer.

The pin configuration for remaining components follows the layout presented in the application schematics or the function block diagram of the component.Explore the latest content from blog posts to social media and technical white papers gathered together for your convenience. With the release of Altium Designer 10, components are now delivered through the Altium Vault and accessed for placement during design-time via Altium Designer's Vault Explorer panel. Vault-based components deliver another level of unification, not only do they include all models, they also include up-to-date supply chain information. For the latest information on what components are available in the Vaults, including descriptions of all device families, check out the Unified Component section of the Altium Live Content Store.

As well as access to the Vault-based components, you can also download an up-to-date Integrated Library of each available component family from the Content Storelook for the link on the left when you're reading about a component family. For those designers who need off-line access to components, Integrated component Libraries can be downloaded using the links below.

Either download all libraries in a single ZIP, or pick the specific Manufacturer you need. The below library downloads are deemed to be 'frozen libraries'. The content of these ZIPs was built at the time of the launch of Altium Designer 10, and will not be updated. If would like to speak with a representative, please contact your local Altium office.

GitHub Desktop is the most user friendly tool for working with GitHub projects, and we recommend you use it for keeping your library files up to date.

Clicking the Clone Now link below should open GitHub Desktop and take you to the clone repository window. You will need to create a database login to be able to connect with Altium. As the credentials are stored in plain text on your computer, we randomly generate a username and password for you, so you're not tempted to use a password or username you use elsewhere. In the Available File-based Libraries window that pops up, click on the Installed tab, then the Install button.

Select the DbLib you downloaded to the directory you cloned the library to, then close the Available File-based Libraries window. The Components Panel will now contain dozens of views containing the components of the library in an organised fashion.

If you can't see any components in the views, take a look at the Troubleshooting Guide. Download Now. Clone Now. Create Login. Finally, you need to download the DbLib file from your logins list.Use the Libraries panel to access components in libraries currently available in Altium Designer. The panel has direct access to libraries that are part of an opened project or those installed as persistent libraries.

Panels can be configured to be floating in the editor space or docked to sides of the screen. The Available Libraries dialog has three tabs, which are described in the following sections. Libraries are searched in the order they appear in the Available Libraries dialog — in the order of the tabs, then in the order of the libraries listed within each tab.

Searching occurs when the list is interrogated as part of model-link verification, for example, when compiling the project, synchronizing, or running a simulation. This tab lists all of the libraries that are part of the active project the project currently selected in the Projects panel.

This tab lists all of the installed libraries. This tab lists all libraries that have been found along the Library Search Paths for the project. Libraries in this tab are searched in the order they appear.

Click the Paths button to define the order. Keep in mind that searching a large number of folders containing a large number of files can be slow. To install Vault folders into the Libraries panel, ensure the Installed tab of the Available Libraries dialog is the active tab. Click the Install button and select Install from Vault as shown in the image above to open the Vault Library dialog.

The Vault Library dialog is used to map Vault folders to the Library name you want displayed in the Libraries panel. Once you have defined a name and added the required folders into the Vault Library dialog, click OK to return to the Available Libraries dialog. The image below shows how the Vault folders present. Note that the Path region of the dialog includes a line for each folder you included in your 'Vault library'.

Vault libraries are listed along with all other installed libraries.

The order of parameter columns can be changed using drag and drop, both in the Libraries panel and also in the Select Parameter Columns dialog. Once you have located the required component, use one of the following techniques to place the component on the active document:. Continue to place further instances of this component, or right-click or Esc to stop placing this component.

When using the click-and-drag placement method, only a single instance of the part is placed and the board does not remain in placement mode. If you know which library contains the component you need, you can simply add that library through the Available Libraries dialog. Filter the list of components to quickly locate the required component.

Incremental search is the name given to searching as you type. Over the past couple of days I have been experimenting with Altium's Access database library feature and have run into an issue.

I have a test database and Altium seems to be reading from it without a problem, but in the Libraries panel when I try to go add a part, the part number field does not show up. Only the Library Ref column appears:. The above image is what I am expecting except I would like to be able to choose which fields appear. What am I missing here?
